With 1 September around the corner and the spring flowers beginning to bloom, Groote Post invites you to put some spring in your step, and head out to the Darling Hills, for their first monthly market of the new season.

Groote Post will again be a hive of activity, brimming with delectable and beautiful country offerings. Guests can expect artisan foods, arts and crafts, home-ware and décor, and of course, Groote Post’s well-loved wines. Look out for their newly released 2015 wines as this harvest is reputed to be one of the best ever. Must-haves will be the ever popular Groote Post Sauvignon Blanc 2015 and of course the Groote Post Rosé 2015 which is made exclusively for the monthly markets.

An exciting line-up of entertainment will be on offer. Local band Klassik will be performing live, delighting all with their irresistible foot-tapping music popularly known as the Swartland Shuffle. For more information, visit http://www.klassik.co.za. And for a touch of drama, don’t miss “Augustus”, a highly-acclaimed short play by a visiting Dutch theatre group at 11h30. Tickets are R30 per person and booking is essential as seats are limited. To book, call 022 451 2202 or email eldre@iloveyzer.co.za.

All the old favourite stalls will be back, as well as some new exiting ones such as Nellie’s Homemade Pies from Langebaan including Lamb Shank Curry, Bobotie, Oxtail, Coq au Vin and Pork Pies, and Gerrit van Dalen of Koekedoor fame will be presenting his delectable treats.

Local of course is always lekker, with a divine selection of Darling gourmet produce including Darling Mushrooms, Weskus Worswa, Udderly Delicious Cheese, Darling Pomegranate Products, Saucy Boys’ organic preservative-free chilli sauces, marinades and spices, Darling Sweet’s delicious handmade toffees, Darling Brew’s popular craft beers and more.

Children will love the rolling lawns, playground, tractor rides, face painting, water-balls, guided horse rides, target-shooting and more. And the sheep-shearing demonstration will be popular with both kids and adults.

After browsing through the market, visitors can relax in the shade under the trees while tucking into their delicious eats from the market. Groote Post’s award-winning restaurant, Hilda’s Kitchen, will be open as usual, but please note that booking is essential.

Although pets are welcome – all dogs must be on a leash at all times. Visitors arriving without their dogs on a leash will be given an option to buy one from the SPCA stall or hire one at the information stall.

Entry to the Groote Post Country Market is free of charge.
