It is non-stop awards season, and the TOP 10 Sauvignon Blanc awards celebration was held on Wed 15th Oct at the most glorious Vergelegen Wine Estate in Somerset West.

There are few farms who can boast having 3 active generations invovled in the farming, and Groote Post near Darling is one of them.
The Pentz family identified the best 120 Ha of well drained clay soils to plant 122 Ha of wine grapes.
An 18th Century historic farm, Groote Post is home to Hilda’s Kitchen, one of the Western Cape’s most famous winery restaurants. An easy hour’s drive from Cape Town, the restaurant, which is in its 12th year now, is easily accessed from the R27, the West Coast Road.
The Old Mutual Silver, Gold & Trophy award-winners presented their wines to a very buzzy crowd on Thurs 20th June. Seems that SONA was not enough to draw people away and there was much ticking off of lists and 'Did you taste the xxxx?' going on!
We started with the bubblies of course and a major stand-out for us all was the Steenberg Lady R - which has the most creamy biscuity palate - but sadly out of stock, so we were very lucky to still have some to enjoy.
